A nerd snipe is when someone presents a problem so compelling that a technically-minded person has to stop what they're doing and solve it. Irresistible. Involuntary. Completely on-brand for us.
There's a concept in engineering culture for what happens when someone throws a genuinely hard problem in front of a technically-minded person. A physicist standing at a crosswalk. Someone shouts an unsolved equation at them from across the street. The physicist stops dead — completely ignoring the walk signal — and starts working through it in their head. That's nerd sniping.
The problem doesn't have to be your problem. It doesn't have to be urgent. It just has to be interesting— and to the right kind of person, interesting is enough. The Urban Dictionary defines it as distracting a smart person with a problem so compelling they're forced to abandon whatever they were doing to solve it.
We named our company after it because that's genuinely how we experience the problems our clients bring us. Show us a broken workflow, a data mess, a process that eats 12 hours a week — and we cannot leave it alone. It's not discipline. It's pathology. We've learned to charge for it.
“Distracting a smart person by presenting them with an intensely interesting or challenging problem, forcing them to abandon their current work to solve it.”
Popularized by xkcd. The term indicates a mental diversion so compelling that the target cannot ignore it.
Your business problems are our nerd snipe.
NerdSnipe Inc. is a Canadian AI solutions company. We work with small and medium businesses across Canada to implement practical artificial intelligence — automating workflows, building custom AI agents, and turning operational data into genuine competitive advantage.
We don't sell software subscriptions. We don't run boot camps. We don't write strategy decks and walk away. We identify the highest-value AI opportunity in your specific business, scope it honestly, build it properly, and make sure your team can actually use it.
Most of our clients are trades businesses, light manufacturers, and service companies — the kind of businesses that run on tight margins, small teams, and owners who are already doing three jobs. These aren't businesses with a CTO. They're businesses that need a trusted partner who understands both the technology and the reality of running a small operation in Canada.
We don't start with tools. We start with your operations, find where time and money are being lost, and work backwards to the solution. The tech is the last decision, not the first.
We'll tell you when AI is the wrong answer. If a spreadsheet or a hire solves your problem better than an AI system, we'll say so. We'd rather lose a project than oversell one.
Everything we build ships with documentation your team can actually use. You shouldn't need us on retainer to keep the lights on. If you want ongoing advisory, it's your call.
We've worked in small businesses. We know what it means to have no dedicated IT, no data team, and a budget that needs to justify itself by Q2. We scope accordingly.
We have no affiliate relationships with AI tool vendors. When we recommend a platform, it's because it's the right fit — not because someone's paying us to push it.
Data sovereignty, privacy law, and local business context are part of how we design. We're not a global agency that treats Canada as a market segment. This is where we work.
We genuinely cannot help ourselves. Book a free 45-minute call and let's see what we find.
