SealDesk Privacy Policy

Processed and stored on your device by default. Nothing is sent to our servers — we don't have any.

App: SealDesk for iOS & Mac← Back to SealDesk

Summary

SealDesk is a notary journal app published by NerdSnipe Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how SealDesk handles information when you use the app.

By default, everything SealDesk processes — ID scans, signatures, thumbprints, journal entries, and fee calculations — is stored on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers because we don't have any. There is no account and no sign-up.

What SealDesk stores on your device

To function, SealDesk stores the data you enter or capture while logging a notarial act, including:

  • Your commission profile (state, commission number, expiry, seal image)
  • Journal entries, hash-chained sequentially for tamper-evidence
  • Signer information required by your commission state (name, ID fields, signature)
  • Thumbprint images, where your state requires one
  • Location stamps, where you enable location capture for an entry
  • Notarial act details (type, document character, fee)

ID scans processed through VisionKit (barcode and MRZ reading) and voice entries processed through on-device Speech never leave your device during capture — recognition happens locally, and you always confirm suggested fields before they're saved.

Sync — local by default, optional end-to-end encrypted iCloud

Local only (default)

All data stays on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers — we don't have any.

CloudKit sync (opt-in)

If you turn on sync, journal data is synced end-to-end encrypted between your own Apple devices via your private iCloud account. We never sync journal payloads to a custom backend, and we cannot access this data — only you, signed into your own iCloud account, can.

Subscription & payment

SealDesk's free trial and any paid subscription are managed entirely through Apple's App Store / StoreKit. Subscription validation happens through StoreKit only — we never receive your payment information.

On-device intelligence features

SealDesk uses the following Apple frameworks, all processed on-device:

  • VisionKit / Vision— reads driver's license barcodes and MRZs, and suggests OCR field values for your review. It never auto-fills a field without your confirmation, and scanned images are not uploaded anywhere by SealDesk.
  • Speech — transcribes hands-free voice entries locally on your device.
  • CryptoKit — hash-chains each journal entry sequentially for tamper evidence, entirely on-device.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — locks entries after signing. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS/macOS and is never accessible to SealDesk.

No tracking

SealDesk does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Your data, your control

Because your data lives on your device (and, if you opt in, your own private iCloud account), deleting the app — and, if desired, its iCloud data via iOS/macOS Settings — removes your SealDesk data. We have no server-side copy to separately delete, and cannot retrieve or restore journal data on your behalf.

Not legal advice

SealDesk helps you maintain a notary journal and surfaces state-specific field requirements and fee caps as a convenience. It is not legal advice. You remain responsible for compliance with your state's notary laws and regulations.

Children's privacy

SealDesk is a professional tool for commissioned notaries and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of SealDesk after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
